Word of the day - OTP

OTPOne-Time Password. It's a security feature used to protect your online accounts, a temporary code used for logging in or making a transaction that's only valid for a single use.

Imagine it like a secret handshake that constantly changes. You and the website (or app) agree on a special code, but that code expires after one use. This makes it much harder for hackers to steal your login information even if they somehow intercept the code.

Here are some ways OTPs are delivered:

  • Text message (SMS): This is a common method where the code is sent to your phone number.
  • Mobile app: Some apps, like banking apps, have built-in OTP generators on your phone itself.
  • Voice call: In rare cases, the code might be called out to you over the phone.

Using OTPs adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts, making it harder for unauthorized access.
